Information
Information | Long Lake Provincial Park Association (LLPPA) is a nonprofit association that advocates for conservation of Long Lake Provincial Park and community engagement in its management and development. This membership association includes a volunteer executive board and several committees. Additionally, the association is responsible for the development and maintenance of a specific section of Long Lake Provincial Park under an agreement with the government of Nova Scotia. LLPPA maintains about 6km of trails which can be reached from parking lots on Dunbrack Street and Old Sambro Road. These trails provide access to Long Lake and Withrod Lake. Trail maintenance is done by volunteers and funds are raised by means of raffles. Funding for park maintenance is not provided by the province and the municipality plays no role in park management. Though this section of the park is cared for by LLPPA, the whole park remains under the control of The Department of Natural Resources and Renewables and is subject to the rules governing Provincial Parks in Nova Scotia, notably through the regulations associated with the Provincial Parks Act (including no camping or campfires, dogs on leash at all times, no hunting or removing plants, etc.), The park is closed during the winter in line with all other provincial parks in Nova Scotia. Users of the park's facilities do so at their own risk at all times. |
