Rating | Hike - Easy ; Bike - Easy ; Cross Country Ski - Moderate |
About the Rating | Winter sports suitability is inconsistent. No winter trail grooming and proximity of the ocean significantly reduces the amount of snow cover and how long it stays in place. |
Information | The Salt Marsh Trail is part of the abandoned Musquodoboit railroad that has been transformed into a part of the Trans Canada Trail. The trail provides an easygoing adventure for hikers and bikers alike. This trail is also a popular cross-country skiing destination in the wintertime. Choose a short walk (1.0 km) out to the first bridge and back, or for more of a challenge, go the entire 6.5 km route for a 13 km round trip. The trail is very level and the surface is crusher dust. There are markers for every kilometer of this trail to help you keep track of how far you have traveled. Connect to Cole Harbour Parks and Trails Association for more information (including a brochure guide) about trails in the area. The website also provides information about bird observations in the area and a link for you to print your own checklists. Or, visit their facebook page for current events! |
