| Information | Five Islands Provincial Park is one of Nova Scotia's premiere outdoor destinations offering spectacular views, overnight camping sites, and hiking opportunities. Economy Mountain Trail follows an old logging road through forests of maple, birch, beech and white spruce. The trail ascends Economy Mountain to an elevation of 213 metres. The trail is composed of old woods road, wet sections, steep sections, some roots. Trail length: 3.4 km loop Permitted uses: hiking, cross-country skiing (not groomed) Rating: moderate difficulty Directions: Access to the trail can be found at Route 2 to Five Islands Provincial Park; south onto Bentley Branch Road (park road). Continue 1 km to first parking area at gate; the trail starts on south side of road. Or continue 2.5 km to trail access just past park administration building; trail starts on west side of road. Map available on the park website. Other trails in the park include the Estuary Trail and the Red Head Trail. |
