Information October 2022 - Due to the damage from Hurricane Fiona, Cobequid Escarpment Trail is closed until further notice. Please respect trail closure notices and signage. Take a hike on the edge of the Cobequid Escarpment! Beginning above Economy Falls, this loop trail follows a bridge across the Economy River gorge and ascends to the upper slopes of the Cobequid Escarpment. From there the trail follows the east side of the Economy River, crosses the river (no bridge) and joins the Devil's Bend Trail, and returns to the stairs near the falls. Enjoy the mature forest and the views of the gorge. Length: 2.5 km loop Permitted use: hiking Trail surface: gravel paths, dirt paths, wooden stairs, bridge. Rating: "moderate" (wilderness standard) difficulty; steep sections; hikers must ford Economy River below the falls (no bridge) Directions: To access the trail, follow Route 2 to Economy. Turn North onto River Phillip Road (unpaved road, very rough sections) and continue following main road and signs for 7 km to upper parking area near Economy Falls. (At about 1 km, at the top of the hill take time to enjoy a panoramic view of the Minas Basin and its tide.) At 7 km, turn right at the sign and continue a short distance to the parking lot. From here, follow trail toward Economy Falls (a 10 minute walk) and follow the signs/trail map from there. Other hiking trails in the Kenomee Trail System:
